The webinar titled “BETA’s Technologies: Evaluating Novel Systems through Traditional Human Factors” took place over Zoom on Thursday, October 30th, 2025.
Our guests were Adam Lowe, Tyler Prather, Tyler Seeholzer, and Rodrigo Rose from BETA Technologies.
Summary: Recent changes in FAA certification regulations have unblocked new opportunities for incorporating novel technologies into general aviation aircraft. At BETA, we’re developing a conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) aircraft that fits into the existing Part 23 certification framework. Fly by wire flight controls, electric engines, and high voltage batteries are systems without precedence in Part 23. Applying human factors principles to pilot training and flight deck design, we find ways to represent novel capabilities with familiar interfaces. In this webinar, we’ll explore a case study of pilot indications that shows how we approach evaluating our novel systems through traditional human factors techniques.
